A Very Vegan Christmas

Santa Mugs with Dried Fruit

Can Vegans have fun during the holidays? Can their non-vegan friends have fun with them?

The answer to both of those questions is “yes”.

Every year a group of friends and I have put together a Christmas cookie exchange. We used to see each other fairly regularly over the course of the year, but now we sometimes only see each other this one time. So it is a nice tradition.

Everyone brings a tray of treats and at the end of the evening we all go around leave some of ours and take some of the others.  It’s a great way to get a variety of treats to take home.

The last two years I have hosted the event at my house – it just worked out that way. I do not have a lot of mugs at my house and certainly not enough to serve guests.  Last year I asked everyone to BYOM (Bring Your Own Mug) but this year my daughter had a great suggestion – make the mug a party favor.  I headed down to the Dollar Store and bought about ten Christmas mugs.  I filled them with a bag of home dehydrated fruit (that I had been working on all late summer) and a cute little ornament. I also had some vegan persimmon bread muffins and vegan zucchini bread muffins.

We had regular tea and I made a crockpot of chai tea with coconut milk on the side.

All in all, a successful event!
