Eating Out: Viva Las Vegas

In late May, I took a trip with my mother to Las Vegas.  The purpose of this trip was to, well, have fun. We took two bus trips, one to Bryce Canyon and one to Death Valley. On the day between these two epic trips, we hung around Las Vegas. My mother had seen an article about a small shopping center made out of containers.  So, of course, we had to go.  We made our way from the strip to Old Las Vegas – Fremont Street, and then up another two or three blocks, until we made it to Downtown Container Park. Indeed it was a shopping center made of containers.  It was fantastically done and we had a great time wandering in and out of three stories of containers and the shops they contained! There were a fair amount of people there enjoying the restaurants and it was an interesting and fun change of pace from the noise and uproar of classic Las Vegas.

While we were there, we noticed a vegan restaurant, so of course we went in. It was a tiny place named Simply Pure. The menu had a great selection of raw vegan food and smoothies.  Vegan Chef (and owner) Stacey Dougan also does catering. She was in the restaurant during the time we were there and she looks fantastic! Definitely a recommendation for the raw vegan experience.

My mother wasn’t hungry, so she only had a smoothie.  I had a smoothie and the spring rolls. Everything we ordered was delicious

Downtown Container Park and Simply Pure is located at 770 Fremont Street.
